As it is the season for degree shows we thought we would take a look at the latest graduates work of the Cambridge School of Art. There was a vast amount of work across all categories, but our attention was drawn towards the talents of the illustration students. Illustration graduate Hannah Bigley’s striking print works truly stood out to us, with her beautiful combinations of type and pattern. Hannah Bigley is also a winner of this years D&AD New Blood Pencil for her Monotype on films directed by the Coen Brothers for Somerset House Screenings.
Another star of the show included graduate Rebecca Barnes and her quirky two toned illustration, what caught our eye was the bold detail and the magnificent use of hand drawn type.
We also had to include graduate Rosie McAndrew and the striking Taxi Driver Poster. This poster is one of the pieces that really grabs you as you enter the Illustration section of the show. We felt it’s simple but bold styling, was almost comparable to the works of the great Saul Bass.
We saw that the Cambridge School of Art has a great strength in its illustration course and its graduates, we look forward to seeing the fruits of next years students and what they have in store for us.
